Get closer

We're so much more than our work on stage

And the best part? Everyone’s welcome. Any age, any ability. Come down and get inspired.

We know that many people start out their relationship with CFT in small ways - a coffee, a workshop, a simple 'like' on social media - and over time grow more attached; or they come to see a show, the spark catches and they want to get more involved.

If that sounds like you - looking to get closer to CFT - here are some of the ways you can do that.

Volunteering at CFT

I think we can all agree volunteering is a great thing to do at any age. You can make friends, support your favourite charity and build your skill set (as well as adding something wonderful to your CV). We're extremely grateful to all of our volunteers past and present for their work at CFT.

You can read about our different volunteering groups below and if you would like to join a waitlist for a specific group, you can complete a form here or email [email protected].

CFT Buddies

Our friendly Buddies are a team of trained volunteers who offer a free companion service for audience members. We recruit for this scheme on an ad-hoc basis. Please note we have a full team of volunteer Buddies at the moment - we'll update here if a place becomes available.

Heritage and archive volunteers

This group all have great attention to detail and admin skills. They meet weekly to assist with the upkeep of our ever-increasing archive, including production photographs, videos, press cuttings, posters and programmes. We recruit three times a year if spaces become available - January, April and August.

Audio Describers

Making sure our shows are accessible to everyone is top of our priority list. Our audio describers detail what's happening on stage for blind or visually impaired people so they can enjoy our live performances. We currently have a full team (hurrah!).

Ad Hoc Projects and Events

If you're interested in getting involved in different areas of the theatre, we have a group of volunteers who help us for ad hoc projects and events, when available. This could include setting up an exhibition in the foyer, chaperoning, being an event marshal, or handing out flyers. Please note we no longer require volunteers for backstage tours, props or costume.
