2015: Running Wild
Our history2015: Running Wild
For its 30th anniversary, Chichester Festival Youth Theatre (CFYT) took on its most ambitious project to date: a promenade production of Michael Morpurgo’s Running Wild at the Cass Sculpture Foundation in Goodwood. Seventy members of the Youth Theatre took part, evoking the atmosphere of the Indonesian jungle through the use of sound, strong ensemble work and full-size animal puppetry. The production was a massive success, later being re-imagined at Regent's Park Open Air Theatre and on a national tour before returning to CFT in 2016.
Two members of the cast, Romina Hytten and Fred Davies, went on to work in the West End, winning an Olivier Award for Best Supporting Actor in 2022 as part of the team of seven tiger puppeteers in Life Of Pi - the first time the award was won by more than one actor, and a first for puppeteers. Listen to their memories below, in an interview recorded in May 2022 especially for this exhibition.
