News Story

A charity auction of 100 Plaster of Paris eggs, commissioned by CFT from renowned artists and designers, has raised over £35,000 for The Nest Appeal. Eggs created by Gavin Turk and Philip Jackson CVO proved particularly popular, raising £3,005 and £2,550 respectively.

Sarah Mansell, Appeal Director, says: ‘We are absolutely delighted to announce the successful 'Egg' auction in aid of the Nest Appeal, with every single artist’s egg sold, including several contributed by members of Chichester Festival Youth Theatre – raising over £35,000 for the cause. We still have at least £200,000 left to raise; we’d be very grateful to anyone who can help us reach our final target and nurture the next generation of theatre talent.’

We're also pleased to announce that Ascia Construction, an independent company based on the Hampshire/Sussex border 10 miles from Chichester, have been appointed as contractors for The Nest. The core of the new building will be an existing temporary structure, previously located in London and Edinburgh. Ascia Construction will oversee its installation in the trees beside the Festival Theatre.

Ascia’s Managing Director Neil Cole says: ‘As one of the South’s leading independent building contractors, with offices very local to Chichester, we are truly delighted to have been selected to construct The Nest for CFT. We are always keen to work on projects such as this one which will benefit the whole community and which are closely in keeping with our principles of economic, social and environmental sustainability. We are very much looking forward to collaborating with CFT and delivering the project next year.’
